Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a PRN Inpatient Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to join the Behavioral Health team at Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, VA. This hospital-based role provides inpatient psychiatric care on the BHIP unit with on-site rounding and optional remote coverage for Haymarket and Culpeper Medical Centers.

You will conduct evaluations, treatment planning and medication management, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry.
• Active Virginia medical license (or eligibility) and DEA license.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient psychiatric care on the Behavioral Health Inpatient (BHIP) unit.
• Manage an average daily census of 8–12 patients (on-site and remote).
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning and medication management.
• Provide consultative services within scope of practice as requested.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
• Deliver care per regulatory, accreditation and clinical standards.
