Job summary

ClearSky Health in Lancaster, OH is seeking a PRN Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment and support patient recovery.

You will clean patient rooms, common areas, and equipment, follow infection prevention standards, and work with a supportive team to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of hospital or skilled nursing facility experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans all patient rooms and ancillary areas using hospital procedures.
  • Cleans patient rooms at discharge.
  • Vacuuming and cleaning upholstered furniture and carpeted areas.
  • Replaces soiled draperies, moves furniture and equipment as directed.
  • Spot cleans and washes walls; cleans light fixtures and vents.
  • Cleans window frames and high-dusting items as needed.
  • Collects soiled linen and distributes clean linen and gowns.
  • Assists in floor maintenance (stripping, waxing, buffing) as needed.
  • Collects waste and disposes of bio-waste per policy.
  • Notifies administration of equipment repairs; adheres to hazardous materials protocols.

Education

High school diploma or GED
1 year hospital or skilled nursing facility experience

The Housekeeper will be responsible for cleaning and servicing the Hospital to ensure the safety, health, and morale of patients, visitors, and employees, and of patients’ recovery by helping provide a clean, attractive, and safe environment. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Essential Functions
  • Cleans all patient rooms and ancillary areas in assigned area using Hospital approved processes and procedures.
  • Cleans patient rooms immediately upon patient discharge from the Hospital.
  • Vacuums and cleans upholstered furniture and carpeted areas.
  • Replaces all soiled window draperies, moves furniture and other equipment as directed.
  • Spot cleans and washes walls.
  • Cleans light fixtures, vents, and other apertures.
  • Cleans window frames, door frames, televisions and other high dusting using ladder when necessary.
  • Collects soiled linen from all patient areas and distributes the clean linen and hospital gowns back to the appropriate unit.
  • Assists in maintaining floors by proper cleaning techniques which include stripping, waxing, buffing, as needed.
  • Collects waste from all areas of hospital, sanitizes garbage cans, and properly disposes of waste and bio-waste if necessary.
  • Strictly adheres to Hospital policies and procedures regarding use of hazardous materials and exposure to body substances and utilizes/wears required protective equipment and/or clothing.
  • Takes daily inventory of supplies and cleans and inspects equipment for any repairs or replacements.
  • Notifies administration of equipment repairs.
  • May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
Minimum Job Requirements

Minimum Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. 1 year experience in hospital or skilled nursing facility preferred.

Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift
  • A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time.
  • Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
