Job summary

Harbor Hospice in Muskegon, MI is seeking a Dietary Aide (PRN) to provide dietary and housekeeping support to terminally ill patients and their families in the hospice residence, following patient care plans and health regulations. Responsibilities include meal preparation, tray service, kitchen cleaning, and coordination with the Hospice interdisciplinary team to ensure patient comfort and safety.

A High School diploma and general dietary experience are preferred, with driving eligibility

• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide dietary and housekeeping support to hospice patients and families.
• Prepare meals per menu and recipes while meeting health code standards.
• Serve and collect food trays for patients and residents.
• Operate kitchen equipment (steamer, ovens, dishwasher) per guidelines.
• Label, store, and rotate refrigerated and frozen foods properly.
• Maintain clean serving areas and utensils per health codes.
• Assist with room care, safety, and patient comfort.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to meet patient needs.

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for providing dietary and housekeeping support to terminally ill patients and their families in the hospice residence, in accord with Hospice Patient Care Plans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES (other duties may be assigned)

• Maintains the confidentiality of patient and employee information at all times, both at work and off duty, and after the termination of employment. According to the agencies Notice of Privacy Practices and HIPAA regulations.
• Is knowledgeable and functional in computer applications including database, word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail system as required for the execution of the job.
• Cooks meals in quantities according to menu, standardized recipes, and patient census, within health code, and ensures all food is maintained at appropriate temperature per regulations and ensures utmost quality with a minimum of waste.
• Serves and collect food trays
• Operates various kitchen equipment including, but not limited to, steamer, coffee pot, ovens, dishwasher, etc., according to manufacturer’s guidelines and appropriate rules and regulations.
• Follows proper procedure for labeling and storage of refrigerated and frozen food.
• Cleans and maintains serving areas, equipment and utensils according to health code.
• Performing a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors.
• Ensuring all rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards.
• Works with the family /caregiver and Hospice interdisciplinary team members to meet the needs of the patient/family/caregiver.
• Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patient.
• Performs within the limits of training and work experience.
• Accepts responsibility for continued education to enhance job related skills and abilities and attends all staff meetings and in-services.
• Adheres to all policies, procedures and regulations regarding patient care, conduct, safety, fire, security and quality management program.

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS

• High School Graduate.
• General dietary experience is preferred.
• Licensed to drive with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and or organization requirements and is in good working order.
