Job summary

JMC Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, WV, is seeking a PRN CT Technologist to perform diagnostic CT procedures and rotate through radiology. The role requires a Medical Imaging program background, ARRT/NMTCB certification, and state licensure as applicable; BLS within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities include room prep, patient instruction, image quality control, safety protocols, and proper documentation using PACS. This position is part-time, on-site at Jefferson Medical Center.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program with radiology training.
  • Radiography certification by ARRT or NMTCB required.
  • Current licensure as required by the state where services are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare room and equipment for patient exams with sterile technique.
  • Perform CT examinations per physician orders and explain procedures.
  • Observe for abnormalities and report changes; transport patients as needed.
  • Document patient status and procedure details in the chart.
  • Maintain supplies and ensure proper film labeling and safety practices.
  • Ensure safe radiation exposure and comply with safety policies.

Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.2. Radiography certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).3. Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided:**MD:**Radiographer license through the Maryland Board of Physicians**OH:**Radiographer license through the Ohio Board of Radiology**PA:**No state license is required**WV**: Radiological Technologist **OR** Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic CT License through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board.4. Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire5. State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:****EXPERIENCE:**1. One (1) year of experience as a computed tomography technologist.**CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Prepares room, equipment, materials, as needed for patient exams, including sterile technique. Cleans and disinfects rooms and equipment following each patient exam, using current infection control policies. 2. Performs examinations per Physician’s orders and explains procedures to the patients. Documents any variations from protocol due to patient’s condition or other unknown cause and relays patient history and clinical data to Radiologist. 3. Observes patient and equipment and reports any unusual occurrences or changes. Transports and assists patients as needed. 4. Documents status of patient in reference to radiology/CT procedure on patient’s chart. 5. Documents variances repeats and other such occurrences to help maintain high quality health care and opportunity for quality improvement. 6. Maintains stock supplies, performs general office duties, responsible for proper film labeling and following prescribed techniques to assure acceptable quality and consistency. 7. Practices safe radiation exposure and protection as well as general safety for patient’s, visitors, and staff at all times. 8. Complies with policy and procedures for the departmental and hospital wide programs. Participates in the patient safety training and patient protection, including the needs and methods to report medical/ healthcare errors and abuse. 9. Produces diagnostic quality images utilizing CT equipment and effectively judges CT images for proper technique to best demonstrate anatomy and pathology. Performs critical procedures under stress during emergency procedures. 10. If applicable, performs diagnostic studies using mobile radiographic equipment in emergency or patient rooms as ordered by physician. Performs diagnostic studies in surgical suite with C-Arm and other equipment. 11. Provides care specific to the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. 12. May perform IV insertion/blood draws. 13. Administer IV/Oral/Rectal contrast for CT imaging procedures per radiologist protocol/department manual and ordering physician/care provider order. 14. Utilize PACS to ensure exams are completed and available for the radiologist to read and for the referring physician/care provider review. 15. Performs all related duties as assigned by department manager or other duties assigned by lead technologist.**For facilities with specialty accreditation requirements:**1. Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards.
