Job summary

AdventHealth Orlando is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric respiratory care on the night shift. You will interpret assessments and test results with an interdisciplinary team, deliver respiratory therapies, and participate in patient flow and safety protocols.

The role requires NBRC credentials, BLS, and a State Registered Respiratory Therapist; experience in critical care is preferred.

Qualifications

• Patient care skills for a wide age range per hospital needs.
• NBRC credential required/maintained for eligibility per unit policy.
• Required licenses may include BLS and State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

Responsibilities

• Responds to Code Blue emergencies with CPR per AHA guidelines.
• Manages respiratory and oxygen delivery therapies and selects efficient delivery methods per protocol.
• Obtains, analyzes and reports arterial blood gases and co-oximetry; performs quality controls.
• Operates ventilators and airway equipment; maintains patient assessment and multidisciplinary communication.
• Performs routine and emergent therapies while ensuring safety and cost-effective care.

Job Description

Schedule: Night shift 6:45am-7:15pm. Weekend and holiday as well as Occasional evening or night coverage may be required

Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely.

Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in assisting with patient flow.

Practices standard precautions and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies. Interprets evaluations and test results to determine appropriate treatment plans in consultation with interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responds to all Code Blue emergencies immediately providing CPR according to the American Heart Association and performs other duties as directed.

Performs respiratory and oxygen delivery therapies and makes recommendations to the most efficient delivery method per protocol.

Obtains, analyzes and reports findings of arterial blood gases and co-oximetry; performs quality controls as needed.

Performs airway maintenance including: proper use of manual resuscitators, oral and nasal pharyngeal airway insertion, and airway suctioning. Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators to include basic conventional modes of ventilation per policy and procedure.

Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, chart review, and confers with multidisciplinary team to determine efficacy of therapy in a cost and time efficient manner making appropriate recommendations and changes per department protocol.

Other duties as assigned.
