Job summary

Jefferson Center for Mental Health is seeking a Crisis Pool Clinician to work PRN at the 24/7 Crisis Center Walk-In Center. You will perform de-escalation, triage, and crisis interventions, coordinating with licensed clinicians and, when needed, local law enforcement to ensure safety. The role emphasizes trauma-informed care and collaborative care planning.

The position is pool-based with no benefits, offering hourly pay depending on shift. Licensure is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology or related field plus one year of related experience and/or training.
  • Meets the requirements of applicable federal, state and organizational background checks.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and attend meetings at various locations.
  • Responds to Walk-In Center clients and provides necessary clinical interventions.
  • Evaluates crisis clients according to timelines for response.
  • Provides de-escalation and crisis interventions as needed.
  • Obtains collateral information to inform treatment planning.
  • Follows trauma-informed care principles to avoid harm.
  • Develops strength-based treatment plans to promote recovery and engagement.
  • Connects clients with least-restrictive services for safety.

Job description

The Crisis Pool Clinician works on a PRN basis on available shifts at the 24/7 Crisis Center. The Pool Clinician would function as a Walk-In Center Clinician. Evaluates consumers who present at the Walk-In Center according to mental health center timelines for response. Provides de-escalation, triage assessments and crisis intervention. Is familiar with principles of trauma-informed care. Obtains collateral information to ensure that crisis interventions consider the context of the client’s overall plan in order to avoid harm and re-traumatization. Attempts to resolve crisis on-site whenever possible. Makes clinically appropriate dispositions in referring to services in the least restrictive environment necessary to ensure individual and community safety. Works collaboratively with Licensed Crisis Clinicians, and when indicated, with local law enforcement to resolve situation as effectively as possible.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
  • Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology or related field plus one year of related experience and/or training. May consider relevant pre-master’s degree experience. Licensure preferred.
  • Meets the requirements of applicable federal, state and organizational background checks.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer. Ability to attend meetings at a variety of locations.
  • Responds to Walk-In Center clients and provides necessary clinical interventions.
  • Evaluates crisis clients according to mental health center and Medicaid timelines for response.
  • Provides de-escalation, triage assessments, crisis-interventions, and placements when indicated.
  • Obtains collateral information from family, significant others, and other providers as appropriate and includes them in treatment planning.
  • Follows principles of trauma-informed care to avoid harm and re-traumatization.
  • Develops strength-based treatment plans that promote recovery, resiliency, and engagement with formal and informal support systems.
  • Connects clients with the least-restrictive services necessary to ensure client, family, and community safety.
  • Links clients to needed follow-up services as appropriate
  • Consults with WIC Nurse, licensed clinicians, administrator on-call, and on-call psychiatrist as needed, especially in regard to co-morbid medical conditions.
  • Completes documentation in compliance with Jefferson Center guidelines.
  • Participates in supervision, training, and team meetings as directed.
  • Exhibits enthusiasm, courtesy, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment.
  • Maintains effective interpersonal relations with consumers, peers, subordinates, upper management, visitors, and the general public.
Other Duties:
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a pool position with no benefits attached. Pool rates are as follows:

Pool Grade 51-Master’s Unlicensed Clinician $36.00/hr to $46.00/hr based on shift.

Pool Grade 52- (Licensed Clinician LCSW, LMFT, LPC) $41.00/hr to $51/hr based on shift.
