Job summary

Oceans Healthcare in Norman, OK is seeking a PRN Behavioral Health Technician (BHT). The role supports nursing staff, maintains a therapeutic milieu and performs patient care tasks within scope of training and experience.

The BHT will follow policies, safety rules and state regulations while providing empathetic, patient-centered care and communicating with the nursing team to ensure quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with CNA certification or 6 months of bedside, direct patient care experience.
• Must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written instruction.
• CPR certification and Oceans approved behavioral de-escalation program required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to policies, procedures and Joint Commission standards.
• Apply supportive behavior to de-escalate and intervene with patients as needed.
• Document patient observations accurately in the chart.
• Perform vital signs, weighings, ADL and intake/output documentation.
• Assist with meals, laundry, mobility and daily activities.
• Ensure patient dietary restrictions and allergies are followed.
