Job description

Location: Milwaukee, WI (In-office with flexibility)

Overview

We are seeking a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) to join our client, a team-oriented wealth management practice serving high-net-worth individuals and families. This role is designed for a well-rounded advisor who thrives in both relationship management and business development.

You will play a critical role in the full client lifecycle—from acquiring new relationships to delivering comprehensive financial planning and serving as a trusted long-term advisor. This is an opportunity to combine deep, meaningful client work with the ability to grow your own book within a collaborative, high-integrity environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary advisor and relationship manager for a portfolio of high-net-worth clients (average AUM ~$1M+)
  • Deliver comprehensive financial planning across retirement, tax, estate, insurance, and cash flow strategies
  • Drive new client acquisition through referrals, centers of influence, and personal networking efforts
  • Lead client meetings, present financial plans, and guide clients through complex financial decisions
  • Translate sophisticated financial concepts into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Own and enhance the overall client experience through proactive communication and high-touch service
  • Identify, track, and close new AUM opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams (investment management, client service, and planning specialists) to deliver integrated solutions
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline activity, and client documentation
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a strong, team-based culture
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in a core planning area and contribute to thought leadership or client education
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies

Qualifications

  • 3–10+ years of experience in wealth management or financial planning
  • Demonstrated ability to both manage client relationships and generate new business
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex financial strategies
  • High emotional intelligence, with a natural ability to build trust and long-term relationships
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with accountability for both client outcomes and business growth
  • Licenses: Series 63/65 (or equivalent) and Life/Health insurance preferred
  • Experience with CRM and planning tools (e.g., Salesforce, eMoney, Orion, or similar)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Collaborative, team-first mentality with a willingness to wear multiple hats

Success Profile

  • Builds and maintains a book of high-net-worth client relationships (100+ households over time)
  • Consistently generates new business through referrals and network development
  • Establishes themselves as a trusted advisor and long-term partner to clients
  • Contributes to firm growth, culture, and mentorship of future advisors
  • Demonstrates potential for expanded leadership and/or ownership opportunities
  • Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Health, dental, life, and disability insurance
  • HSA contributions
  • Paid time off + holidays
  • Professional development and certification support
  • Additional perks (e.g., parking, flexibility) based on location

Why This Role

This role offers the best of both worlds: the ability to build deep, meaningful client relationships while also growing your own book of business. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team that values integrity, authenticity, and long-term impact over transactional success.
