Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Security Officer to protect our facilities and patients in Detroit. The role involves patrolling, monitoring and guiding visitors, with a focus on preventing disturbances and maintaining safety across the campus.

You will serve as a visible, calm, and cooperative presence, directing people and coordinating with the security team. A minimum 21 years old and licensing requirements apply, with potential for varied shifts and weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• College degree preferred; successful completion of a psychological evaluation.
• Must be at least 21 years of age for Security Police Officer-Armed role.
• Currently employed full-time as a police officer within the State of Michigan; or separated officer from a Michigan police department; or out-of-state officer with reciprocal licensure; or security experience at Henry Ford Health; or 5+ years of complex security operations; or 4+ years of military service.

• Direct patients, visitors, and staff to destinations.
• Prevent and manage disturbances; call for backup when needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), required.
• College degree preferred. Successful completion of a psychological evaluation.
• Must be at least 21 years of age for Security Police Officer-Armed role.
• Currently employed full-time as a police officer within the State of Michigan;
• -OR- A separated officer from full-time service from a police department within the State of Michigan (either retired in good standing, or resigned in good standing);
• -OR- An out-of-state officer currently employed full-time as a police officer and who qualifies to reciprocal licensure as defined by MCOLES;
• -OR- Up to one year of security experience in a Security Officer role at Henry Ford Health;
• -OR- Five plus (5+) years of complex security operations experience;
• -OR- Four plus (4+) years of military experience w/Honorable Discharge.

Certifications/Licensures Required

• Work requires the certification under Public Act 330 within the first year of filling this position or at the first certification class offered in the tri county area.
• Valid, unexpired Concealed Pistol License.
• Maintain a valid unexpired Michigan operator’s license.
• Successfully pass firearms training.
• Must satisfactorily complete state minimum training certification requirements and required testing.
• Annual training and testing requirements must be maintained.
