KKR is building a new Private Equity platform in New York. As VP, Engineering Lead you will own end-to-end engineering of the platform and lead a small senior team, spending 40–60% of your time coding.
You will shape a shared roadmap, collaborating with fund accounting, treasury, investor reporting and finance to accelerate delivery while ensuring accuracy and auditability.
KKR is a leading global investment firm that offers alternative asset management as well as capital markets and insurance solutions. KKR aims to generate attractive investment returns by following a patient and disciplined investment approach, employing world‑class people, and supporting growth in its portfolio companies and communities. KKR sponsors investment funds that invest in private equity, credit and real assets and has strategic partners that manage hedge funds. KKR’s insurance subsidiaries offer retirement, life and reinsurance products under the management of Global Atlantic Financial Group. References to KKR’s investments may include the activities of its sponsored funds and insurance subsidiaries.
The Investment Technology group at KKR builds and operates the systems that power the entire investment lifecycle from deal sourcing and portfolio construction to risk management and monetization. We design platforms that connect data, people and insights across Private Equity, Credit, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Capital Markets, enabling investment teams to make faster, smarter decisions at scale. Our mandate is to transform how KKR invests by engineering shared, data‑driven platforms that replace fragmented legacy tools with integrated solutions that drive efficiency, transparency and alpha generation.
We are building a new platform for the Private Equity middle and back office and retiring the legacy systems it replaces. This is a build, not an implementation: the decision to build rather than buy is already made, and we are looking for an engineering leader who is a builder by instinct.
As Vice President, Engineering Lead, you will own the engineering of that platform end to end: the capital‑activity and accounting engine, the data model beneath it, the integrations around it, and the migration off legacy. You will lead a small, senior team of [3–4] engineers as a player‑coach, spending 40–60% of your time designing, writing and reviewing code.
Almost everything this team delivers is built in partnership with other groups across the firm. A good part of the job is shaping a shared roadmap and working through trade‑offs as they come up.
AWS (EKS, RDS, Aurora), Python (FastAPI), React, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redis, Kestra (job scheduling), PySpark (ETL / medallion model), with AI‑assisted development tools used across the SDLC. Integration with fund accounting, administrator, treasury and reporting systems through APIs, events and managed file transfer.
This is the expected annual base salary range for this New York‑based position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
$170,000—$190,000 USD
