Job summary

McKinsey & Company is hiring in New York for a Private Capital consultant role. You will join teams of 3–5, conducting due diligence, building financial models, and delivering actionable recommendations to clients in the PE and principal investor space.

You'll work across deal identification, due diligence, and portfolio improvements, with mentors, staffing support, and a structured development program to accelerate your career trajectory.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or master's degree with 1+ years of full-time work experience.
• 1+ years of due diligence experience in a consulting firm, investment bank, or major corporation.
• Strong academic record with outstanding achievements.
• Demonstrated interest in investing, with understanding of industry drivers.
• Proficiency in financial analysis and modeling with risk assessment.
• Aptitude for analytics and advanced Excel; exposure to market modeling is a plus.
• Intellectual curiosity, creativity, and collaborative mindset.
• Leadership demonstrated in academics, work, or extracurriculars.
• English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypotheses, and communicate recommendations to leadership.
• Work on financial benchmarking and business modeling to justify strategic choices.
• Conduct due diligence, collect data, review contracts, analyze data, assess risks, and perform valuations.
• Collaborate with colleagues and clients across a range of industry areas.
