Job summary

Suno is building a privacy engineering lead role to establish Suno's privacy and AI governance framework. You will shape data handling policies, discovery, and consent management, while scaling an engineering team and coordinating with Legal and Product.

You will implement governance across data platforms, models, and agents, ensuring compliant usage and responsible AI as Suno grows. This role centers on building robust enforcement infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years hands-on software engineering experience with enforcement infrastructure.
• Deep experience in privacy engineering or data governance; familiarity with GDPR and CCPA.
• Experience as an engineering manager or Staff+ engineer aiming to grow into people management.

About The Role

We're looking for a Privacy Engineering Lead to build Suno's privacy and AI governance function from scratch. You'll set the technical direction for how we handle data and permissions across our platform, models, and agents — building the infrastructure that enforces policy at the point of use and verifies outcomes like retention and deletion. You'll partner closely with Legal and Product while hiring and growing your own engineering team to scale this work across the company.

What You'll Do

• Build the policy foundations for how Suno handles data, permitted uses, and AI, in partnership with Legal.
• Own data discovery, classification, and permissions mapping across our product, analytics, and vendor systems.
• Design and operate governance controls across our products, data platforms, models, and agents, enforcing consent, access, and data-sharing rules.
• Lead verified user rights operations, including access, correction, deletion, and consent management, partnering with Product on self-service tools.
• Hire and grow a dedicated privacy engineering team, giving this work the focused ownership it needs to scale.
• Help make responsible data handling part of how Suno builds every new model and feature, in service of making creative fulfillment a daily reality for everyone.

What You'll Need

Must-Haves

• 8-10 years hands-on software engineering experience, with the technical depth to help build and ship enforcement infrastructure yourself, not only define policy for others to implement.
• Deep experience in privacy engineering or data governance, including working familiarity with regulatory frameworks like GDPR and CCPA.
• Experience as an engineering manager who has maintained real technical depth, or as a Staff+ engineer ready to grow into people management.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with AI/ML governance, model evaluation pipelines, or generative AI systems.
• Background at a consumer tech company at scale, or one with a significant European user base.
• Prior experience as an early or founding privacy/governance hire at a growing company.

Work Location Policy

This role is expected to work from the designated Suno office 5 days a week, per Suno's company policy. Full-time employees will receive competitive equity packages, and comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered may vary depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

Compensation

• The annual salary range for this role is $276,960 - $363,510 + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401k)
