Job summary

NVIDIA seeks a Privacy Counsel to join our Legal team in Santa Clara, CA. You will help shape privacy governance and data protection across vendor contracts and data-sharing initiatives.

Responsibilities include reviewing DPAs, advising on regulatory compliance, and developing scalable privacy processes for cross-functional teams. A California-licensed attorney with 4+ years of privacy experience is preferred, with equity benefits offered.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree with strong academic performance.
• 4+ years of privacy law experience including vendor contracts/DPAs.
• California Bar license to practice law.
• Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and US state privacy laws.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with multitasking.
• Business-minded approach to legal risk and guidance.

What you'll be doing:

• Reviewing vendor contracts and data processing agreements (DPAs), with a focus on privacy, data use, and security provisions.
• Supporting outbound data sharing arrangements with third parties, including assisting with data transfer risk assessments and ensuring appropriate contractual safeguards are in place.
• Contributing to the development of scalable processes and playbooks for vendor privacy review and third-party data sharing.
• Consulting with business partners on privacy considerations arising from new products, partnerships, and data initiatives.
• Keeping up-to-date with legal developments in privacy law, including U.S. state privacy regulations and international frameworks such as GDPR, and offering advice on their practical implications.
• Collaborating with members of the legal and privacy team on various data governance and privacy issues, such as drafting guidelines and helping develop training materials.
• Growing into broader privacy and data governance responsibilities as the program evolves.

What we need to see:

• J.D. degree with a record of strong academic performance.
• 4+ years of experience in privacy law, including involvement with vendor contracts, DPAs, and/or data sharing agreements, acquired at a law firm, in-house, or both.
• Fundamental understanding of key privacy regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other relevant U.S. state privacy statutes.
• A license to practice law in California required.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities, including writing, attention to detail, and the capability to handle multiple workstreams efficiently.
• A practical, business-minded approach to legal risk, with the ability to provide clear, actionable mentorship.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

• Experience at a technology company or in a practice group passionate about technology transactions or data privacy.
• Familiarity with AI, data governance, or cybersecurity legal issues — or a desire to develop expertise in these areas.
• A CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or similar privacy certification.
• A history of contributing to scalable legal processes and internal resources.
• A passion for continuous learning and an enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 120,000 USD - 207,000 USD for Level 2, and 168,000 USD - 264,500 USD for Level 3.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
