Responsibilities

• Initiate and manage prior authorization requests for medical procedures, treatments, and medications.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to scheduled services.
• Communicate with insurance carriers, physicians, and clinical staff to obtain necessary approvals.
• Track and follow up on pending authorizations to ensure timely resolution.
• Review and interpret payer‑specific authorization requirements and medical necessity guidelines.
• Document all authorization activities accurately in the EHR system.
• Appeal denied authorizations and elevate complex cases as needed.
