Job summary

Nashua Dermatology Associates is seeking a Medical Assistant to support biologic prior authorizations, gathering clinical documentation, verifying insurer requirements, and submitting requests under Provider supervision.

You will communicate with providers, pharmacies, and patients to secure timely approvals, maintain organized tracking, and escalate delays as needed. A Medical Assistant program or 3 years MA experience, and BLS/CPR certification are required.

• Current BLS/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Care of patients in person, by phone, and telehealth under Provider supervision.
• Administer medications, treatments, immunizations, point-of-care testing, and specimen handling.
• Collect and screen patient history and health information; communicate findings to Providers.
• Communicate Provider instructions and plan of care to patients.
• Document care in the medical record with accuracy and detail.

About the Job:

Dedicated to the full execution and follow-up of biologic medication prior authorizations. Responsibilities include accurately gathering clinical documentation, verifying insurance requirements, completing and submitting prior authorization requests, managing payer responses, and collaborating with providers, pharmacies, and patients to ensure timely approvals. The Medical Assistant must understand payer-specific criteria, maintain organized tracking systems, and escalates delays or denials appropriately. Success in this role requires attention to detail, persistence, clear communication, and a strong grasp of prior authorizations and insurance workflows.

What You’ll Do:

• Participates in the care of patients in person, via telephone (phone screening) and telehealth modalities under the supervision of the Provider(s), in accordance with professional standards and scope of practice as defined by applicable State laws.

• Performs functions delegated by Provider(s) and Registered Nurses, including administering prescribed medications, treatments & immunizations, point-of-care testing, and collection /handling of specimens, within the appropriate scope of practice as defined by applicable State laws and regulations.

• Collects and screens history and health-related information from patients and communicates findings to the Provider(s).

• Communicates Provider advice/instructions and plan of care to patients.

• Documents care activities in the medical record including procedures, interventions, patient/family communication, and test results with accuracy and detail.

Who You Are:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Completion of Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience of 3 years as an MA.

• Certifications: Current BLS/CPR training.

• One year experience in a medical practice of healthcare setting preferred.
