Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Pre-Certification Authorization Coordinator to ensure financial clearance and obtain prior authorizations for scheduled services. You will verify benefits, coordinate with patients and care teams, and document payer decisions to support timely treatment.

In a fast-paced Revenue Cycle Operations environment, you will work across clinical and pharmacy teams, utilize Epic, and help reduce denials while safeguarding patient access and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 3+ years relevant experience required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
• Experience with prior authorization, insurance verification, and financial clearance preferred.
• Experience with Epic and payer portals is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Verify benefits and obtain prior authorizations for scheduled services.
• Submit, track, and document authorizations and predeterminations through payer portals.
• Manage Epic work queues and prioritize cases based on service dates and payer requirements.
• Collaborate with patients, providers, pharmacies, payers, and operations to resolve issues and maintain treatment timelines.
• Escalate denials and unresolved cases within required timeframes to prevent delays in care and reimbursement.
