Job summary

Crown Cork & Seal USA, Inc., a Crown Holdings, Inc. subsidiary, seeks a Printer Operator for our Bradley, IL facility. You will print beverage cans, assist the supervisor, and ensure quality while meeting customer expectations.

The role requires 2–3 years of decorator printing experience, gauge reading and computer skills, and flexibility for varied shifts including nights and weekends. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • High School Education or GED.
  • 2–3 years in setup/operating/adjusting printing decorators in manufacturing.
  • Able to operate, read, understand, measuring color density gauge, and computers.
  • Available to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain printer/decorator operations with focus on safety, quality, productivity and spoilage.
  • Operate and safely maintain decorator equipment.
  • Communicate production information between supervisor, QA, departments and shifts.
  • Assist and coach new operators as needed.
  • Apply methods to improve plant production.
  • Inspect products to ensure quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation: production sheets, schedules, SAFE cards, incident reports.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Position Overview

The Printer Operator works closely with the Manufacturing Supervisor to ensure the printing a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Responsibility of maintaining activities of the printer/decorator beverage cans with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity and Spoilage.
  • Ability to operate, safe operation, and the maintaining of decorator equipment.
  • Communicates all pertinent information between the supervisor, quality control, departments, and between shifts on changes to equipment, production problems or any other related information.
  • Assists and trains and/or coaching of all new operators as needed or required.
  • Applies skills, methods to improve plant production.
  • Inspects product to ensure compliance to quality standards
  • Responsible in maintaining quality and modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal efficiencies.
  • Complete and/or administer necessary documentation such as production sheets, schedule, monthly SAFE cards, accident/near miss/hazard reporting and process control sheets.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
Job Requirements

In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Education/GED
  • 2-3 year(s) in setup/operating/adjusting printing decorators in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to operate, read, understand, measuring x rite color density guage, and computers.
  • Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support.
Preferred Requirements
  • 10 Hour OSHA Certification
  • Operation of a Rutherford Printer
  • Beverage Packaging industry experience
  • Ink toning knowledge

  • Computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
  • Generally works in a manufacturing environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be exposed to moving mechanical parts/product ink /additives, cleaning chemicals.
  • The associate may be exposed to climbing, oven heat, and tight spaces.
  • Production noise level is frequently loud.
