Job summary

Huhtamaki Indiana plant is seeking a warehouse/operator to handle raw materials, move rolls and pallets, and support the splicing and coating processes in a manufacturing setting.

You will need a high school diploma or GED and three years of printing experience, plus the ability to pass a color acuity test and obtain forklift certification. On-site role with adherence to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • The candidate must be able to read, learn, understand, and apply all policies, procedures including safety.
  • Requires mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret measurements.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and obtain annual certification.
  • Proficiency with basic MS Office and hand/power tools in a factory setting.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate management of raw materials within the established system.
  • Move rolls and pallets with a forklift or clamp truck.
  • Keep equipment and materials clean; follow changeover instructions.
  • Prepare rolls for splicing to ensure efficient operation.
  • Perform roll splicing with knowledge of splice timing to minimize waste.
  • Monitor coatings and inks viscosity and pH within tolerances.
  • Prepare rewind shafts and understand rewinder functions.
  • Support tasks like plate mounting, wastewater, and anilox cleaning.
  • Follow directions from Lead Operators and safety procedures.
  • Participate in safety programs and comply with MSS requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Accurate management of raw materials within the established system.
  • Manage the movement of rolls and pallets with a fork lift truck or clamp truck.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment and materials. Clean required equipment after each changeover as instructed.
  • Prepare rolls properly to function efficiently in the splicing operation.
  • Accurately execute the splicing of two rolls. Understand all functions of the splicing equipment and understand how to determine the proper splice timing to minimize waste.
  • Manage the viscosity and pH of coatings and inks within established tolerances.
  • Properly prepare rewind shafts and effectively understand the functions of the rewind section.
  • Perform support functions, i.e. plate mounting, wastewater, anilox cleaning, etc.
  • Follow directions from Lead Operators
  • Observes all safety and company policies and participates in company safety programs. Work safely and follow all AIB, GMP and PPE guidelines. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Comply with daily housekeeping and MSS requirements.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED required. Requires three years of experience in printing.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

The ability to read, learns, understand, and consistently apply all policies, procedures including safety. Ability to see, read, distinguish letters and/or symbols; must pass a color acuity test. Requires mechanical aptitude. Ability to communicate verbally and written effectively and possess good interpersonal skills. Must be able to operate a forklift and clamp truck and obtain annual certification. Will work in a manufacturing environment and will use the following equipment: Computer, MS office software, hand and power tools.

Must be able to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision. Needs to demonstrate a strong work ethic. Must be willing to learn and perform all tasks and duties required in the department. Must be able to work any shift schedule.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Continuous mental and visual attention performing diversified activities requiring constant alertness. Requires constant walking and standing a great amount of time in extreme heat with a moderate amount of exposure to extreme cold, dampness, heights, vibration, skin/lung irritants. A moderate amount of time will be spent sitting, walking, climbing, bending/twisting, pushing/pulling, carrying, reaching out/above shoulders, climbing ladders. Ability to lift up to 50+ pounds occasionally and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. A great amount of time will be spent lifting/lowering and crouching. A great amount of time will be spent in a noisy environment.
