Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a highly motivated Principal Production Test Engineer to drive test processes in a factory setting. You’ll validate test flows, troubleshoot RF/microwave equipment, and lead improvements across mechanical, automation and software teams to ensure high-quality deliveries for the end customer.

You will work in an onsite environment, support manufacturing, and contribute to root-cause analysis and RRCA actions while aligning with program schedules and cost goals.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience related to RF test methods, troubleshooting, RF microwave product testing, engineering or manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Provide test engineering support of the manufacturing areas; interact with operations, quality, process/mechanical, and production control
  • Observe, analyze, and report test data; perform tests using engineering drawings, manuals and related documentation
  • Perform a wide variety of technical efforts including process, test, troubleshoot, and repair Digital, Analog and RF equipment
  • Disposition non-conforming material using root cause and corrective action analysis
  • Drive Continuous Improvement to improve cycle time, ergonomics, and costs using Core / Six Sigma principles
  • Manage moderately sized projects and process changes in the test environment; lead cross-functional teams
  • Review system level test data for compliance toward specifications

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Principal Production Test Engineer (PTE) to join our team. This is a dynamic and visible role where you will leverage your technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and collaborative skills to ensure the seamless execution of test processes in factory environment.

Production Test Engineers(PTE)are part of a manufacturing team who supportthetest process through one or more phases of the product life cycle, including product development, transition to production, sustained production, and depot activities. The PTE validatesandensurescomplianceof the prime hardwareto its technical data package requirements; supports program schedule and cost goals; performstroubleshooting, data analysis, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and problem solving of test failures; and identifies opportunitiesto improve efficiency, yields, test time, defect reduction, and test capacity. The PTE serves as the primary authority for the Test Equipment (TE) and, ensuring that all actions and modifications to the TE are appropriate and aligned with operational requirements. They are required to understand how the TE and prime hardware being tested function and interact. As a PTE you will be responsible for optimizing the forward and reverse test flow processes, maintaining test-related documentation, and factory instructions. You will play a key role in ensuring rigorous testing processes and delivering high-quality to our end customers.

What You Will Do
  • Provide test engineering support of the manufacturing areas. Interact daily with operations, quality, process/mechanical, and production control (PC) regarding most urgent immediate needs in test.
  • Observe, analyze, and report test data, perform tests and utilize various engineering drawings, manuals, and other related documentation
  • Perform a wide variety of technical efforts including process, test, troubleshoot, and repair Digital, Analog and RF equipment
  • Dispositioning non-conforming material using root cause and corrective action analysis and working on corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence
  • Assisting with driving Continuous Improvement, including process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate and reduce costs (both direct and indirect) using Core / Six Sigma principles and data driven decision making
  • Manage moderately sized projects and processes changes in the test environment, leading cross-functional teams including Mechanical, Automation, and software engineers
  • Review system level test data for compliance toward specifications
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience related to RF test methods, troubleshooting, RF microwave product testing, engineering or manufacturing
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering
  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings to perform measurements and troubleshoot electronic equipment; Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation including: Requirements, Test procedures, calibration procedures, troubleshooting guides, and factory instructions
  • Experience leading cross functional teams while maintaining budget and schedules
  • 8+ years experience with RF measurements including: S-parameters, Noise Figure, Third order Intercept, Phase Error, Return loss, Compression, Gain, Insertion Loss, VSWR
  • 8+ years experience with the use and functionality of Test Equipment and hardware including: Network Analyzers, Data Acquisition (DAQ), DC Power Supplies, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Power Meters, Digital Multimeters, Pulse Generators, Signal Generators, Attenuators, RF Amplifiers, Couplers, power dividers, RF Switches

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
