Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Southern California, stationed at Edwards Air Force Base, is seeking a Principal Test Conductor to oversee the testing of advanced mechanical, fluid and electro-mechanical systems.

You will supervise technicians, coordinate with engineers, and manage test preparation and execution in fast-paced lab and field environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 5 years of combined experience supporting integration, test or assembly of mechanical hardware; OR Master’s Degree with a minimum 3 years of combined experience supporting integration, test or assembly of mechanical hardware; OR Associates Degree plus 7 years years of combined experience supporting integration, test or assembly of mechanical hardware
  • Experience performing fluid system testing and assembly of plumbing systems and manifolds
  • Experience reading and interpreting P&ID’s, mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Experience reading and executing test procedures
  • Experience working with common tools such as band saws and other machine shop tools, multimeters, and common plumbing tools
  • Experience working with or handling hazardous liquids
  • Active U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level

Responsibilities

  • Supervising technicians and developing maintenance and operational schedules
  • Working with engineers and technicians in the preparation for testing and test execution of advanced fluid, propulsion and electro-mechanical systems, including assembly of plumbing systems and manifolds
  • Working from verbal or written instructions that provide methods and sequence of assembly operations.
  • Using P&ID’s, assembly mechanical drawings and diagrams.
  • Collaborating with engineers and technicians in lab and field test environments and working independently when needed

Northrop Grumman Space Systems sector, located in Southern California, is seeking a Principal Test Conductor to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be based at Edwards Air Force Base in Kern County, CA. The Principal Test Conductor position performs a variety of tasks in the mechanical, electro-mechanical or electronic areas as related to advanced systems.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab and field test environment and be able to collaborate closely with engineers and technicians and also work independently.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 5 years of combined experience supporting integration, test or assembly of mechanical hardware; OR Master’s Degree with a minimum 3 years of combined experience supporting integration, test or assembly of mechanical hardware; OR Associates Degree plus 7 years years of combined experience supporting integration, test or assembly of mechanical hardware OR High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) plus 9 years of combined experience supporting integration, test or assembly of mechanical hardware
  • Experience performing fluid system testing and assembly of plumbing systems and manifolds
  • Experience reading and interpreting P&ID’s, mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Experience reading and executing test procedures
  • Experience working with common tools such as band saws and other machine shop tools, multimeters, and common plumbing tools
  • Experience working with or handling hazardous liquids
  • Active U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level
Preferred Qualifications
  • An Associate's Degree in a technical discipline or other 2 year technical training
  • Experience performing liquid rocket engine testing
  • Ability to work independently or from limited written/verbal instructions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government security clearance at the Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years, or the ability to maintain an active U.S. Government SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
