Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer in Rolling Meadows, IL to lead the Mission Modeling team. The role covers design, integration, testing, and analysis of virtual representations of complex systems in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities include developing simulation code, modeling system behavior, and documenting performance while supporting SILs or offsite tests. On-site work with Top-Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of related experience; or Master’s with 3 years; or PhD with 1 year.
• Analytical thinking, problem solving, and systems thinking mindset.
• Proficiency in model-based systems engineering concepts (SysML) and tools (Cameo, Rhapsody).
• Knowledge of MATLAB, C, C++, CUDA, VHDL, OpenCL, Python, or other scripting languages.
• Experience with virtual environments and mission modeling (AFSIM, STK, BRAWLER, ATCOM, ONESAF).
• Ability to lead engineers in an IPT environment.
• US Citizenship; current Top‑Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, test and analyze virtual system representations.
• Create simulation code and scripts; design models.
• Document model assumptions and performance; produce test reports.
• Conduct integration tests in virtual environments or SILs.
• Apply knowledge of EOIR, optics, RF, algorithms, detection and tracking.
