Principal System Planning and Studies Engineer

Base pay range

$113,933.00/yr - $222,739.00/yr

Role description: Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated Principal System Planning and Studies Engineer to join the Power Delivery & Renewable team. This role interfaces with the System Planning and Studies Team with technical and project management assignments, project engineering, proposal management and business development. The incumbent will manage day-to-day client engagement, project and proposal coordination, project execution, resource planning, and hands-on technical solution work. The position ensures project execution in accordance with applicable codes and standards and Arcadis policies and procedures. The incumbent will work with Power Delivery departments and other Arcadis business units.

Role accountabilities
  • Manage and grow System Planning & Studies team, ensure resource planning and utilization on large/complex projects, and perform quality reviews.
  • Perform and coordinate HVAC and HVDC power systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small-signal stability, reliability, interconnection studies, and system impact studies.
  • Lead the development of enhanced planning processes, methodologies and tools for quality and efficiencies and to stay at the forefront of technical expertise.
  • Act as Project Manager, Proposal Manager, Program Manager, Account Manager and Technical Lead to support services and drive business growth for the region.
  • Mentor junior team members; conduct QA/QC on work of other system planning engineers; participate in client meetings to support business development and project execution.
  • Collaborate with PD&R Leader to develop plans for client development, account growth, resource planning, winning strategy, quality improvement, and financial performance to meet PD&R team goals.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in Power System Planning and Studies with knowledge of North American markets (MISO, PJM, NE-ISO, NY-ISO, ERCOT, CAISO, SPP) policies and grid interconnection requirements.
  • Experience in planning/feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies for utility and developer clients in North America
  • Proficiency with PSCAD and PSSE (load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability); familiarity with TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools
  • PE License certification is required.
Preferred
  • Ph.D. degree in Power Systems (Strongly Preferred)
  • HVDC experience
