Northrop Grumman Space Systems seeks a Principal or Senior Principal Electromechanical Engineer for the Aurora, Colorado site. The role focuses on computer hardware design, integration, and verification, with a particular emphasis on power, RF, and fiber optics systems and how evolving requirements affect hardware design.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on the design and integration of hardware systems, ensuring adherence to changing requirements and specifications.
• Finalize and update drawings; support equipment moves, rack-and-stack operations, and integration of compute equipment into deployment shelters.
• Participate in system‑level testing and verification, ensuring hardware meets all specified requirements and standards.
• Conduct troubleshooting and modifications on existing hardware designs to enhance performance and reliability.
• Document design alterations, prepare status reports, and develop design specifications and validation plans using clear technical writing.
• Maintain a proactive attitude in cross‑functional meetings, demonstrating initiative and professionalism.
• Assist with site construction, power/cooling, and travel to support installation and configuration events (CONUS/OCONUS). Position may require occasional travel for field activities and hardware deployment.

Basic Qualifications

• Principal: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Senior Principal: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance required at the time of application.
• Experience with hardware design and integration processes.
• Demonstrated knowledge of how requirement changes impact hardware design.
• Familiarity with power, RF, and fiber electrical signal principles and applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with complex system architectures and hardware validation procedures.
• Knowledge of electronic components in communication systems.
• Previous experience in a fast‑paced engineering environment with a focus on field support operations.

Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 – $171,000.00. Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 – $213,400.00. Base salary determination considers scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and annual bonuses that reward individual contributions and company results. Employees with VP or Director titles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
