DevOps Software Engineer – Northrop Grumman Mission Systems
Location: Chantilly, VA (SIGINT Technology Center). This role supports SIGINT payloads across airborne and ground platforms, providing 24/7/365 SME support and coordinating with field service representatives, payload operators, subcontractors, and government customers.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug software development environments and pipelines.
- Develop procedures to ensure data pipeline integrity and reliability.
- Build and maintain computer images for Linux and Windows.
- Manage software repositories and execute system builds and deployments on System Integration Labs (SILs) and development environments.
- Support system design, testing, and building of upgraded capabilities, including software and hardware integration and test (I&T).
- Conduct multidisciplinary research when needed and collaborate with engineers in planning, design, development, and utilization of DevOps systems for SILs, testing, or production.
- Obtain knowledge of system and software architecture and mission operations.
Basic Qualifications – Principal DevOps Software Engineer
- Minimum 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent STEM discipline (or higher degree with proportional experience).
- US citizenship required; must obtain TS/SCI security clearance.
- Background in software DevOps for both software and hardware integration.
- Experience with CI/CD best practices, automated builds and tests, quality gates, and CI tools.
- Experience with network engineering (TCP/IP, VLAN, network protocols).
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Documentation and process development experience.
- Version control system experience (Git, Subversion).
- Knowledge of the development lifecycle, including the V-model.
- Strong interdisciplinary problem‑solving skills.
Basic Qualifications – Senior Principal DevOps Software Engineer
- Minimum 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree with proportionate experience).
- US citizenship required; must obtain TS/SCI clearance.
- Background in software DevOps for both software and hardware integration.
- Experience with CI/CD best practices, automated builds and tests, quality gates, and CI tools.
- Experience with network engineering (TCP/IP, VLAN, network protocols).
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Documentation and process development experience.
- Version control system experience (Git, Subversion).
- Knowledge of the development lifecycle, including the V-model.
- Strong interdisciplinary problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications (both levels)
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Experience with software development, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience with system administration, Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher, and/or cloud orchestration technologies.
- Experience with data analytics, network setup, cabling, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, MATLAB, JavaScript).
- Experience with Atlassian (Jira/Confluence) tools.
- Knowledge of system architecture and SIGINT operations.

Salary Range
Primary Level: $114,000 – $171,000 per year.
Secondary Level: $142,200 – $213,400 per year.
