The Dedicated Cloud Engineer will work directly with the DAF CLOUDworks Mission Partner to ensure rapid enablement of all required application functionality. DAF CLOUDworks is a rapidly growing secure cloud program that encompasses 10+ teams supporting information security, infrastructure development, and cloud migration.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Mission Partner to enable required application functionality.
• Support 10+ teams, focusing on information security, infrastructure development, and cloud migration.
• Modify and enhance offerings to implement new requirements, improve functionality, increase efficiency, and reduce operating and deployment costs.
• Participate in operations and sustainment activities.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma with 9 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Short‑listing for Sr. Principal Engineer (level 4): high school diploma with 12 years, bachelor’s degree with 8+ years, master’s degree with 6+ years.
• Active Top Secret clearance with TS/SCI.
• Ability to obtain IAT Level II certification (e.g., CASP+ or Security+) within 60 days of start.
• Technical knowledge of infrastructure components, including network, storage, Linux/Windows, and IT security concepts.
• Working knowledge and/or familiarity with cloud‑based technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with microservice orchestration focusing on Kubernetes.
• Experience with Kustomize and Helm.
• Experience with Linux, GitOps, and CI/CD (heavy emphasis on GitLab).
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, ArgoCD.
• Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python or Bash.
• Strong understanding of application deployment strategies (blue/green, canary).

Preferred Qualifications

• Fundamental cloud certifications: AWS Cloud Practitioner or higher, Azure Fundamentals or higher.
• Advanced application and network troubleshooting, database administration, and PKI management.
• Experience with AWS services and other cloud providers.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Experience with automation (batch scripting, pipeline automation, Kubernetes operators, IaC).
• Experience with cloud‑native application architectures.
• Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
• Experience with security scanning and vulnerability management tools.
• Experience with platform engineering concepts.

Salary

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00.

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00.
