Job description

Job Overview

An engineer on the Strategic Customer Engineering team plays a critical role in aligning technical details across various service teams, collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders, and driving end‑to‑end execution of complex projects. This engineer will design, coordinate, and execute technical solutions that have huge impact to our customer experience and scalability. Understanding various cloud technologies and technical trade‑offs, the ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, have a well‑rounded technical background, and come with a history of leading large‑scale projects end‑to‑end.

Key Qualifications

Your experience should be both deep and wide‑ranging, with strengths in internetworking, cloud infrastructure, Linux system internals, workflow scalability, and organizational effectiveness.

  • 5+ years distributed cloud engineering experience in a software development environment
  • Development experience in Java/C++/C# as well as scripting languages. Experience in scripting and automation using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and/or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools for managing distributed systems.
  • Strong Linux skills with hands‑on experience in Oracle Linux/RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian distributions, including system administration, package management, shell scripting, and performance optimization.
  • Experience working with other cloud platform teams and accommodating requirements from those teams (compute, networking, storage, identity).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and best practices.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and drive resolution in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences.
  • Strong documentation skills with experience documenting infrastructure designs, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing, ensure maintainability, and enhance team collaboration.
Responsibilities

You will be responsible for ensuring that our cloud infrastructure solutions are designed and built with the highest level of scalability in mind. You will partner with other development teams responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing solutions within a distributed computing environment that lead to the best customer experience. This is a high‑impact role with high expectations. You will be expected to lead initiatives across engineering, operations, and leadership with minimal supervision.

  • Partner with customer engineering leadership and OCI engineering leadership to ensure the success of your customers.
  • Take ownership of problems and work to identify solutions.
  • Ability to think through the solution and identify/document potential issues impacting your customers.
  • Work with engineering teams to design infrastructure components such as cloud resources, distributed computing systems, and data storage solutions to support your customer's workflows.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure performance, scalability, and reliability issues and implement solutions to mitigate risks and minimize downtime.
  • Document infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure maintainability.

Salary and Benefits

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $99,600 - $223,400 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  • Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
