Job summary

Doist is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in San Francisco to lead architecture for high-scale systems, guiding technical strategy and critical initiatives. You will design distributed services using TypeScript, Python, and Go, mentor engineers, and partner with product and engineering leadership to drive scalable backend infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of experience, strong systems design, production expertise in TS/Python/Go, and a track record in rapidly scaling startups;

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Exceptional system design and architecture skills.
• Deep production experience with TypeScript, Python, Go, or similar.
• Strong distributed systems knowledge.
• Proven experience solving complex problems at scale.
• Strong technical leadership without requiring direct management authority.
• Excellent communication and judgment.
• Willingness to work on-site in San Francisco.
• Nice to Have Cloud and Kubernetes experience.
• Experience in a rapidly scaling startup.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture for complex, high-scale systems.
• Lead company-critical technical initiatives.
