Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer Lead to spearhead our Kubernetes-based Cloud Native Platform.

You will guide architecture, collaborate with management, and mentor teams across Agile squads to deliver scalable, secure cloud services on our distributed platform. You will apply deep knowledge of Go, Linux, networking, and CI/CD to drive production readiness and enable a robust ecosystem of capabilities within the organization.

Qualifications

• Have 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Possess leadership experience in Cloud Native Platform Engineering, driving toward an enabled ecosystem of capabilities within our organization.
• Have experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable production services using Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge of the Go programming language and be comfortable leveraging Python or Bash for scripting needs.
• Express expertise in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP) and knowledge of Linux-based operating systems.
• Have expertise leveraging CI/CD tools to achieve good software development practices.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $169,300 - $304,700/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
