Qualifications

  • Proven ability to review AI-assisted recommendations with attention to resiliency and security.
  • Familiarity with agile and lean methodologies.

As a Principal Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within Infrastructure Platforms and as a part of the Cassandra engineering team, you will be working on one of the largest internal database platforms, and one of the largest Cassandra implementations, in the world. You will work with an experienced team of engineers to build automation and self-service tooling for Cassandra in both private and public cloud, with a focus on consumer driven requirements and customer experience. The goal is to deliver a world-class platform, consumable by JPMorganChase's most critical systems, for the use of Apache Cassandra. The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning and a desire to solve complex problems across a broad set of technologies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the software lifecycle, including design, implementation, and delivery.
  • Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate infrastructure architecture analysis and option evaluation across large-scope initiatives, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • Develop frameworks that help increase developer and release velocity, improving code health and technical standards.
  • Partner with various team members to align strategies and reach mutual goals
  • Collaborate with a skilled engineering team to develop automation and self-service tools for Cassandra across private and public clouds.
  • Focus on delivering a consumer-driven, world-class Cassandra platform for JPMorganChase's critical systems, enhancing customer experience.
  • Leads reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted practices within delivery and automation routines to reduce recurring issues at scale, ensuring changes are validated, traceable and auditable, and aligned to resiliency and security expectations.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience
  • Understanding of cloud, virtualization, APIs, and modern software languages.
  • Software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages: Java, Python, Spring Framework, Spring-Boot, Salt, and others.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently
  • Advanced experience working with two or more of the following: web application development, database, Unix/Linux environments, distributed and parallel systems, information retrieval, networking, large-scale software development, security software development.
  • Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support infrastructure engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalating when uncertain and ensuring outcomes align to resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
  • Understanding or experience with agile and lean philosophies.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with clear communication.
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as SaltStack and Ansible or similar tools, including basic knowledge of Linux configuration and operations.
  • Knowledge of concepts related to Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE).
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
  • Experience with UI/UX development.
  • Previous contributions to open-source software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing solutions using DynamoDB, including experience with data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
