Pratt & Whitney’s Connected Aviation – Air Traffic Solutions software team in Marlborough, MA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead development of our air traffic control systems. The role focuses on C/C++, Unix/Linux environments, and contributing to full software lifecycles in a highly collaborative, onsite setting.

You will work with an integrated engineering team, participate in Agile ceremonies, and help ensure safety-critical software quality across multi‑national customers.

Qualifications

Our Connected Aviation – Air Traffic Solutions - Software Engineering Department (ATS-SED) is looking for a talented experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our team developing and supporting our Air Traffic Control Systems worldwide. We develop safety-of-life air traffic management systems for mulit-national customers used for controlling and monitoring civil and military aviation traffic. This is an opportunity to be a subject matter expert and solve complex system issues.

What You Will Do:

• You will develop and maintain software packaged into our ATMS products
• You will maintain documentation and work instructions needed to meet ATS SED’s high maturity level software engineering standards and processes.
• You will participate in the agile process including daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, back log grooming and story pointing.
• You will work with an integrated engineering team in a highly collaborative environment, requiring frequent multi-level communication with engineering team members, program management and external stakeholders.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
• Experience developing, integrating, testing and validating software components in an Unix/Linux environment
• Experience with the complete software development lifecycle using C/C++

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Bash and Python
• Experience with Agile methodologies and GIT
• Experience in software testing or debugging source code

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
