Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking a senior software engineering leader to guide a team building production agents, shape patterns, and drive tool integration.

You will own the platform architecture, ensure testing and observability, and work with product leadership to translate the vision into a deliverable roadmap. This role demands deep proficiency in Python and TypeScript and a track record of mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of software engineering experience.
• Deep proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
• Track record of technically driving teams, mentoring, setting standards, and shipping complex systems.
• Experience building agentic or multi-step automated systems, including tool orchestration, LLM reasoning loops, or agent frameworks.
• Ability to set architectural direction and reusable patterns adopted by other engineers.
• Experience designing for non-deterministic behavior, edge cases, and failure, with testing and observability to catch them.
• Candidates must be located in Farmington Hills / Metro Detroit, Michigan; Frisco, Texas; or Cincinnati, Ohio.

• Nice to have: LLM safety, evaluation, or governance systems experience.
• Nice to have: Retrieval / hybrid search over enterprise knowledge
• Nice to have: Platform engineering or developer tooling at enterprise scale
• Nice to have: Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of software engineers building production agents.
• Set engineering standards for agent patterns, tool integration, testing, code quality, observability, and review practices.
• Architect the shared agent platform and protocols, including agent-to-agent messaging and tool servers.
• Write code, prototype difficult problems, and pair with engineers on challenging system components.
• Own the quality and safety of agent behavior through accuracy, cost-efficiency, guardrails, evaluation, observability, and continuous governance.
• Translate the platform vision into shippable roadmap increments.
• Represent the team to engineering and product leadership by communicating architecture, trade-offs, and progress.
