Job summary

Onto Innovation is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Test to drive quality across the software lifecycle. You will lead a team of SDETs, define testing strategies, and collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps to deliver scalable, reliable software.

The role emphasizes a shift-left culture, strong automation, and robust metrics. Ideal candidates have 8+ years in testing and 3+ years in leadership, with experience in Java/Python/C#/JavaScript and modern automation tools.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software testing/quality engineering experience.
• 3+ years in a technical leadership or team lead role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Experience with test automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, RestAssured).
• Experience with API testing, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum.
