Job summary

CheckVideo, a division of Kastle, seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead design, development, and testing of CheckVideo applications from a hybrid Falls Church, VA office. You will own secure software across Linux environments, deployment pipelines, and production systems, driving performance, reliability, and observability.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years shipping mass-market software, strong Python/C/C++/Go skills, and hands-on experience with AI/ML (LLM, CV), cloud platforms

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience developing and shipping software for mass market products.
• Knowledge & experience with the SDLC and programming languages: Python, C, C++ and Go.
• Experience with AI Training & Inference: LLM, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, PyTorch, TensorFlow.
• Cloud computing: AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Source code management systems such as Git and Bitbucket.
• DevOps tools: Jenkins, Gitlab, GitOps.
• Databases and NoSQL experience.
• Strong skills in troubleshooting production issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test & deploy CheckVideo applications in a secure manner.
• Develop in a Linux environment using source code control system and deployment pipelines.
• Maintain and update production software as necessary.
• Scale and tune for performance to meet production demand.
• Secure our software by addressing vulnerabilities and by writing high-performing, scalable, and secure software to meet customer demands.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer who will be responsible for developing and maintaining our flagship product assets. This includes the architecture, design, development & testing of CheckVideo applications.   • Databases and NoSQL experience
• Strong skills in troubleshooting production issues

Preferred, but not required:

• Experience with:
  • Infrastructure management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Terraform
  • Designing and developing services using distributed systems principles
  • Media codecs and streaming protocols. Examples include: H.264 (AVC), RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol), H.265 (HEVC), ONVIF, or others

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $175,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors. This range reflects base pay only and may not include bonus, commission, equity, or other incentive compensation, where applicable. Actual offers are determined individually based on the candidate's qualifications and internal equity considerations. Kastle Systems (and its affiliate, i2G) offers a competitive benefits package, which may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, and other benefits, depending on the position and location.
