Job summary

NFI is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the Digital Twin development, design, and implementation efforts. You will advocate for engineering decisions and drive initiatives across IT and Transportation Management platforms, reporting to the Sr. Director of Solutions Engineering.

You will guide the team in architectural decisions, contribute to roadmaps, and ensure robust software delivery with an emphasis on quality, performance, and scalability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Related Engineering.
  • 7+ years experience working in a corporate engineering or software development environment.
  • Must have well-rounded experience planning and implementing engineering, analytics, and relationship development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • An exceptional ability to work autonomously.
  • The ability to hit the ground running in a very busy atmosphere
  • Strong Experience with Python and SQL, Proficiency in software engineering tools
  • Experience with test-driven development
  • Ability to conduct software reviews and status updates with leadership
  • Ability to run project meetings (requirements & design)

Job description

Overview

As a Principal Software Engineer you will be responsible for developing, designing, and implementing NFI’s Digital Twin. You will serve as an advocate for engineering decisions related to the Digital Twin.

While interfacing with other business leaders, you will lead initiatives involving the development of new Digital Twin products and services. You will work directly with IT, as well as other teams supporting Transportation Management's various platforms and systems. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Solutions Engineering.

Requirements:

Preferred Requirements
  • 10+ years experience working in a corporate engineering or Supply Chain consulting environment
  • Sound knowledge of Supply Chain Engineering, Software Engineering, Data and Platforms Engineering.
  • Experience with Supply Chain modeling platforms like Supply Chain Guru, Llama.ai, NextMV, Gains, Sophus, Starboard, Optilogic, or TMOD.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Experience with Go/Golang
  • Experience with ML Algorithms, Optimization Algorithms, and Building AI Native Apps / MCP

We are excited to share that the base salary range for this position is $106,486.00 - $141,981.00. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, targeted at 10%. NFI takes into consideration applicants' qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location when determining a starting rate of pay.
