Job summary

Primis, a leading enterprise fintech, is seeking a Principal Java Backend Engineer to design, optimize, and modernize large-scale platforms behind financial reporting, business rules processing, and data pipelines.

You will architect scalable services, optimize rules engines, tune SQL, and guide modernization while mentoring a team and driving high-availability distributed systems.

The role requires 12+ years of enterprise backend experience and deep JVM knowledge on AWS.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in enterprise backend engineering.
• Strong OOD, design patterns, multithreading, concurrency, JVM tuning.
• Extensive experience with Rules/Decision Engine platforms and financial reporting systems.
• Expert SQL optimization, plus experience with SQL Server, Redshift, S3, AWS Lambda, Parquet, Jasper Reports.
• Solid grounding in distributed systems, high availability, and event-driven architecture.
• CI/CD with Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Architect highly scalable, fault-tolerant Java backend services processing millions of transactions.
• Build and optimize large-scale Rules/Decision Engine platforms running complex financial logic.
• Tune SQL queries, indexing, and execution plans for maximum performance.
• Design high-throughput ETL pipelines and cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Lead production troubleshooting, mentor engineers, and drive modernization of legacy platforms.
