Job summary

NCR Voyix is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead design, development, and deployment of complex software solutions. You will mentor engineers, drive architecture strategy, and align technical choices with business goals across scalable, secure systems.

You will collaborate with product, design, and operations teams, leveraging cloud platforms, Docker/Kubernetes, and modern languages to deliver high-availability fintech/retail solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of progressive experience in software development, with lead or principal engineer responsibilities.
• Proven expertise in designing and building large-scale, distributed, highly available software systems.
• Strong proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Go, Node.js).
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Deep understanding of software architecture, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and data warehousing concepts.
• Knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
• Experience in fintech or retail tech is a plus.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software solutions within NCR VOYIX Corporation. This role requires a strong technical leader who can drive innovation, mentor junior engineers, and contribute significantly to our architectural strategy.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, development, and deployment of scalable, high-performance, and secure software systems.
• Drive technical vision and strategy for key product areas, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
• Mentor and guide a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Conduct in-depth code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and architectural principles.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance development processes and product capabilities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across various software components and systems.
• Contribute to the evolution of our engineering practices, including CI/CD, testing strategies, and deployment automation.
• Act as a technical subject matter expert, representing the team in cross-functional discussions and initiatives.

Job Qualifications

• 5-7 years of progressive experience in software development, with a significant portion in a lead or principal engineer role.
• Proven expertise in designing and building large-scale, distributed, and highly available software systems.
• Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Go, Node.js).
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Deep understanding of software architecture patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with various database technologies (relational, NoSQL) and data warehousing concepts.
• Solid understanding of agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire technical teams.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges and make sound architectural decisions.
• Experience in the financial technology or retail technology sectors is a plus.
