DriveWealth in the United States is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of our brokerage systems. You will create scalable, low-latency, highly available trading backends and REST APIs while mentoring the engineering team.

You bring a decade of software experience, strong Java skills, CI/CD mastery, and a background in fintech. The role supports a fully remote setup in the US with hybrid collaboration at times.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering with expertise in Java.
• Knowledge of Test Driven Development and writing unit/integration tests.
• Strong CI/CD and automated testing frameworks understanding.
• Experience with REST APIs, event-driven architectures with Kafka and Kubernetes.
• Financial tech or capital markets background required.
• Proficient in SQL/NoSQL and stored procedures (Postgres/MySQL).
• Unix/Linux experience; scripting to extract/transform data.
• Familiar with Jira, Git, Jenkins; 24x7 high-availability systems.
• Excellent communication, analysis, and problem-solving skills.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our Post Trade Engineering team. As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of our brokerage systems. You will work closely with our engineering team and other stakeholders to create scalable, low latency, and highly available trading systems.

What You’ll Do

• Responsible for the technical architecture, design and delivery of high performance, low-latency brokerage systems using Java/Golang
• Assesses the health and performance of software applications and databases and provides software and technology solutions
• Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs and microservices.
• Work with the Broker Dealer Operations teams to support and enhance the trading and backend system for multiple asset classes like Equities, Options, Mutual Funds etc
• Define specifications and develops components, modifies existing software stack, prepare test data, and prepares functional specifications
• Analyze Service and application performance using various programming
• languages, tools and techniques
• Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team
• Provide guidance to non-technical staff in using software and hardware systems most effectively and efficiently
• Support applications with an understanding of system integration, test planning, scripting, and troubleshooting

You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
• At least 10 years of experience in Software Engineering with expertise in Java
• Must understand Test Driven Development and how to write effective unit/integration tests
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and automated testing frameworks
• Proficient in developing and maintaining robust REST APIs and implementing sophisticated event-driven architectures with Kafka and Kubernetes
• Background in financial technology or capital markets is required
• Proficient in No SQL, SQL and Stored Procedures such as in Postgres, MySQL
• Experience with Unix, Linux Operating Systems (writing scripts to extract and transform data)
• Knowledge of Jira, Git, Jenkins
• Experience with a 24x7, highly-available architecture
• Strong experience with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure
• Experience with Scrum and other Agile processes
• Strong communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Special Knowledge (Nice to Have, But Not Required)

• Multiple years experience in fin-tech specifically Post Trade, Payment or SaaS

Location

This role is open to candidates in the following locations: Chicago, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Miami, San Francisco Bay Area, or Seattle.

• If based Chicago: This role is expected to come into the office 3 days a week on a cadence set by the Hiring Manager/Team.
• If based in Austin, Dallas, Denver, Miami, San Francisco, or Seattle: This is a fully remote role, though you may need to visit our onsite offices from time to time.
• If you’re not based in one of the locations listed above, this role is not a fit, and we cannot accommodate remote work outside these locations.

Pay Range: $250,000 – $280,000

Pay is generally based on the level, complexity, responsibility, location, and job duties/requirements of the specific position. We then source candidates with the requisite skills, expertise, education, training, and experience. This role is eligible for base, bonus, equity, 401(k) match, and heavily subsidized benefits and perks.
