biBerk is seeking an experienced software leader to join our hybrid role in Pittston, PA. You will mentor developers, steer design and architecture decisions, and deliver RESTful APIs within a cloud-based insurance platform.

You will collaborate across agile teams, own critical technical decisions, and ensure security, performance, and high-quality software deliverables while traveling to collaborate as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent working experience.
• 10+ years of experience as a software developer, primarily using C#.
• 3+ years in a senior technical role.
• Experience designing and delivering RESTful APIs, integrations, and complex business processes.
• Cloud services design including serverless, data storage, messaging, logging, preferably Azure.
• Experience with monolithic and microservice architectures.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores.
• Experience creating CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.

BHDIC is building a cloud-first, API driven, dynamic insurance platform that enables customers to purchase insurance policies directly online. Expanding our team, we are adding experienced software innovators to enhance our development efforts.

This role is ideal for experienced developers who are well-versed in the development environment outlined below and are eager to share their expertise by mentoring and guiding other team members.

Developers in this role will participate as both senior technical experts and individual contributors, supporting other team members by leading design, planning, and resolution of roadblocks. Through close collaboration with contributors at various levels, they will build deep domain expertise and serve as technical subject matter experts (SMEs) with broad technical influence across projects and teams.

This is a hybrid remote role that requires onsite presence in Pittston, PA at least once every other month. Candidates must live within a reasonable driving distance of either the Pittston, PA or Omaha, NE BHDIC office for required onsite meetings as needed in whichever BHDIC office is local to the employee.

Job Responsibilities

• Contribute as a senior technical resource on a cross functional, agile development team including members from development, quality assurance, and business analysts
• Serve as technical SME for a particular domain within the overall platform
• Provide guidance and mentoring including pair programming, code reviews, demos, and group/1:1 coaching.
• Design system features to meet business objectives while fitting into the enterprise platform ecosystem
• Contribute to cross-team platform design decisions
• Collaborate with Product team to ensure that requirements are understood, and short-term and long-term business objectives are met
• Follow department-wide technical, process, and quality standards while contributing to their improvement
• Take a lead role in creating technical documentation and content, ensuring that knowledge is transferred across the team
• Deliver regular and frequent code contributions aligned with User Stories and sprint goals
• Guide the team regarding unit testing; collaborate closely with QA resources to guarantee successful functional and regression testing of all features
• Ensure that the team achieves system performance goals
• Ensure that the team thinks with a security first mindset
• Take ownership of problems and solutions, being proactive to ensure success
• Provide innovative problem-solving skills, thinking outside the box
• Occasional travel to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton PA area for strategy meetings (several times per year)
• Normal working hours based on Eastern US time

Qualifications

Required Education And Knowledge

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science/related field or equivalent working experience
• 10+ years of experience as a software developer, primarily using C#
• Excellent programming, debugging, and troubleshooting skills with C# and .NET
• 3+ years of experience contributing in a senior technical role
• Enterprise level system architecture experience, designing and delivering RESTful APIs, integrations, and complex business processes
• Enterprise level design and configuration of cloud services including serverless, data storage, messaging, logging, etc., preferably with Azure
• Experience with design and implementation of both monolithic and microservice architectures
• Experience designing reliable and performant data storage solutions and schemas utilizing cloud technologies including SQL DBs, Document DBs, and unstructured data
• Experience with creating CI/CD pipelines supporting Infrastructure as Code (IAC)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, collaboration capabilities, and attention to detail
• Experience working on large software development projects while collaborating across multiple agile teams

Preferred Knowledge And Experience

• Commercial Property and Casualty insurance experience
• Practical working knowledge of ASP.NET MVC, and .NET Core
• Experience with TypeScript and SPA frameworks (Angular, React, etc.)

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $155,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
