Overview
Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Connected Aviation (Remote) role at Collins Aerospace. This position focuses on service availability, performance, monitoring, incident response, and capacity planning for AWS-hosted infrastructures delivering products to our commercial customers in a B2B model.
What YOU will do
- Own one or more AWS hosted infrastructures delivering products to our commercial customers in a B2B model.
- Manage, enhance, and troubleshoot AWS environments, following best-in-breed patterns for CI/CD of new product/infrastructure releases.
- Deliver in an agile pattern with customers, focusing on continuous testing and release.
- Influence other team members to scale features using the right AWS tools.
- Drive the migration of a significant multi-tenant Connected Aviation web application from on-premise to the AWS cloud.
- Be part of the on-call roster supporting critical service incidents.

Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years of experience, or an Advanced Degree with minimum 5 years of experience.
- U.S. Person – requires access to ITAR or EAR information/hardware; U.S. citizens, nationals, permanent residents, or protected individuals are considered U.S. persons.
- Flexibility to join team meetings as early as 9:00 AM Eastern to accommodate UK and India teams.
- Software engineering background or coding skills in an OO language (.NET or Python advantageous) related to infrastructure as code using AWS CDK.
- Experience managing AWS ECS clusters and systems hosted in PostgreSQL databases and RabbitMQ.
- Experience with Bash and/or PowerShell scripting for infrastructure.
- Experience with system design, platform management, and AWS CloudFormation.
- Experience with Docker, containerization, and Git.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Dual background in systems infrastructure and software engineering.
- Experience with monitoring/reporting tools and Azure DevOps and Pulumi.
- Experience with SCRUM or Scaled Agile Framework.
- Automation mindset and proficiency with automation tools.
- Understanding of network segmentation, routing and VPNs.
- Security collaboration with cyber teams and clear communication of designs.
- Strong written and verbal communication to document and articulate work to teammates and stakeholders.
