Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a senior signal processing engineer to advance missile systems programs. You will apply expert signal processing knowledge to support budget, schedule, development, and test activities, and help integrate algorithms into hardware across development phases.

The role requires a strong background in EO/IR or RF processing, hands-on coding in C/C++ (and Python/MATLAB), and the ability to mentor teammates while collaborating with software, hardware, and Systems

What You Will Do

• You will act with advanced to expert knowledge of signal processing to support budget, schedule, development, execution, and completion of difficult and often complex missile systems program objectives.
• You will use and modify simulations for the design, development, prototyping, integration, testing, and performance assessment of signal processing algorithms and models.
• You will participate in engineering lab environments to test, verify, and validate sensor models and signal processing algorithm performance in accordance with requirements.
• You will focus on integration of algorithms into hardware and collaborate in all development phases from program start‑up to live‑fire testing, providing signal processing knowledge to resolve numerous and often undefined problems and issues in design reviews, peer reviews, and technical briefings to parties within and outside your own discipline.
• You will share your knowledge and mentor multiple team members.

Qualifications – Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Signal processing experience in the EO/IR or RF domains.
• Experience with the C programming language, or Object‑Oriented Programming experience with the C++, C#, or Java programming languages.
• Experience with algorithm design, implementation, analysis, testing, and optimization.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start.

Qualifications – Prefer

• Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or Applied Math.
• Experience with missile systems applications supporting customer programs.
• Experience with version control tools such as Azure DevOps and Git.
• Subject Matter Expertise in multiple EO/IR or RF algorithms such as edge detection, segmentation, image restoration, adaptive processing, beamforming, angle estimation, synthetic aperture processing, waveform design, tracking, feature extraction, or classification / recognition.
• Proficiency in using MATLAB or Python for analysis of data sets.
• Strong communication skills, capable of presenting analysis to technical and non‑technical audiences and advocating for best solutions and strategy.
• Experience with hardware/software integration.
• Experience managing or leading others in a technical and/or functional capacity within an engineering environment.
• Ability to interface with adjacent engineering disciplines such as Guidance, Navigation, and Control; Software Engineering; Systems Engineering; or Hardware Engineering.

Salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD.
