Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a Principal Scientist (Clinical Director) to lead early clinical development for cardiovascular programs.
You will shape trial design, biomarker strategies, and translational studies across cross-functional teams in Translational Medicine. The role requires an MD or MD/PhD with a strong translational research background, excellent collaboration skills, and the ability to guide programs from first‑in‑human through Proof‑of‑Concept.
Translational Medicine is responsible for early clinical development of novel therapeutics, working in close collaboration with Discovery Sciences and late-stage Clinical Research. We work with all therapeutic areas within our Research Division with the role focused on Cardiovascular Disease and related conditions. The Principal Scientist (Clinical Director) must have a strong background in basic and/or clinical translational research and a desire to work collaboratively across different therapeutic areas.

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
