Job summary

Exponent, Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking a Principal Regulatory Scientist for the Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice to lead federal and state pesticide regulatory work. You will manage projects, identify new clients, and build relationships with regulators.

You will mentor junior staff, provide technical and regulatory reviews, and ensure quality control across projects. This role requires deep EPA FIFRA/FFDCA experience and strong business development skills.

Qualifications

  • Masters or Ph.D. in a science-related field.
  • Ten (10) or more years of EPA FIFRA/FFDCA pesticide regulatory experience. This position requires knowledge, solid understanding, and practical experience with U.S. EPA FIFRA/FFDCA regulations and State regulations for pesticides and chemicals
  • Ten (10) or more years of consulting experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to independently prepare, edit, and proofread technical and regulatory documents
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and manage time effectively
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Experience with project management, budget tracking, and invoicing a plus
  • Exposure to sensitive information will necessitate considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit is a plus

Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Principal Regulatory Scientist for our Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice to be based in our Washington, DC office. Other locations may be considered. In this role you will work as part of a team providing a high level of project management and Federal and State regulatory and technical expertise. You will lead projects, identify new clients, build on relationships with existing clients, and develop new business in the regulatory space.

You will be responsible for

You will have the following skills and qualifications
  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in a science-related field

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above, total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

The base salary range for this position is depending on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.

Salary Range

USD $200,250.00 - USD $244,750.00 /Yr.
