Job summary

Draper seeks a Principal-level Radiation Architecture Engineer in Cambridge, MA to lead cross-functional teams in developing radiation-hardened system concepts, architectures, and requirements. 60% on-site, mentoring junior engineers and delivering reports and presentations on progress.

The role requires hands-on experience with radiation effects, strong communication, and the ability to drive risk mitigation and system-level design across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

Bachelor-level or higher in Physics, EE, or Nuclear Engineering. Advanced degrees preferred.
Experience delivering radiation hardened systems and engineering leadership.
Strong communication, planning, and mentoring skills.
Ability to lead medium-sized teams (5–10 people).

Responsibilities

Support decisions based on radiation effects on system performance.
Design and verify radiation-hardening across multiple effects (TID, SEE, NDD).
Lead interdisciplinary teams and mentor engineers throughout product lifecycle.
Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies; document best practices.
