Job summary

Fortinet is seeking a Principal Software Development QA Engineer to join our R&D team in the United States. You will review requirements, design test plans, and develop automated scripts to assess devices, protocols, interfaces, and applications.

You will work to identify risks and determine release readiness. The role emphasizes automation, cross-functional collaboration, and rigorous testing across product stages, with opportunities to influence quality processes and tooling within Fortinet's

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant experience; automation development/testing preferred.
• Strong test processes and methodologies; test case design and failure isolation.
• Good networking knowledge: Firewall, IPSec, SSL, IdP, BGP, SDWAN, TCP/IP.
• Proficient with Linux/Unix for daily work.
• 3+ years in Python development.
• Experience with Robot Framework to develop functional test scripts.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, Selenium, Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, etc.
• Excellent communication and teamwork, especially with international teams.
• Candidates with Python and Robot Framework knowledge are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review requirements and specifications; create test plans and detailed test specifications.
• Develop automated scripts/tools to evaluate devices, protocols, interfaces and applications.
• Design and run test cases; document issues in the bug tracking system.
• Debug and reproduce customer issues with the development team; collaborate across teams.
• Develop test tools and automated scripts to improve development efficiency.
• Monitor and report product development risks and release readiness.
• Create documentation and training materials for knowledge transfer.
• Test new product features with the development team across stages.
• Work with international team members to test and support releases.
