Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Principal Project Manager - Environmental in the Water Business Group, based in Sacramento. You will direct and coordinate multi-discipline teams across the project lifecycle, establish client relations, manage budgets, and ensure on-time deliverables.

This role emphasizes leadership, technical excellence, and driving sustainable water solutions. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), 15 years of related experience, and 7 years PM experience.

Principal Project Manager - Environmental

We'll count on you to:

  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out)
  • Responsible for any project assignment regardless of size, visibility, number of disciplines, technical complexity or number of staff.
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
  • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Sciences, Planning, Business Administration or closely related field
  • Minimum 15 years related experience
  • PMP certification
  • Familiar with Primavera P3 or SureTrak software preferred
  • Familiar with Prolog software preferred
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Knowledgeable of other alternative delivery/contract models, such as public-private partnership (P3), design-build-finance-operate-maintain (DBFOM), and engineering procurement construction (EPC)
  • Willingness to travel regularly, and if needed, commute to a client's site temporarily

The expected compensation range for this position is $195,500.00 - $287,500.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
