Role Overview
BEPC is seeking a Principal Project Engineer to support a major life sciences capital expansion project in Saint Louis, MO. This senior‑level role is responsible for leading engineering workstreams on pharmaceutical facility projects, ensuring successful execution from design through construction while maintaining compliance with cGMP and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing pharmaceutical capital projects, including cleanroom design, brownfield facility expansions, and construction oversight. This individual will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, drive project decisions, manage technical risks, and ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering workstreams for large-scale pharmaceutical capital projects.
- Provide senior‑level project engineering and technical leadership throughout project execution.
- Collaborate with site, engineering, project management, and construction teams to drive timely project decisions.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and technical deliverables.
- Review engineering drawings, construction submittals, RFIs, and technical documentation.
- Support cleanroom design, classified manufacturing spaces, qualification, and validation activities.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP regulations, industry standards, and pharmaceutical engineering practices.
- Develop technical specifications based on customer and project requirements.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Drive change management while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
- Independently manage assigned workstreams and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Support construction activities and resolve technical issues throughout execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Process Engineering preferred).
- Minimum of 15 years of capital project engineering experience.
- Extensive experience managing pharmaceutical or life sciences capital projects.
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing experience is required.
- Cleanroom and classified manufacturing space experience is required.
- Brownfield project experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cGMP regulations, pharmaceutical facility standards, and engineering best practices.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience supporting qualification and validation activities.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex engineering workstreams independently.
- Strong problem‑solving, critical thinking, and decision‑making abilities.
- Ability to travel to and work onsite in Saint Louis, MO Monday through Friday.
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
- Process Engineering background preferred.
