Responsibilities

• Develop annual Capital Construction Budget and implement substitutions as required.
• Coordinate workload priorities, material procurement, permits, and design implementation.
• Mentor Engineering staff and provide support to Operational areas as required.

Job Summary

Plan, design, coordinate, and review gas transmission and distribution construction projects. Assure projects are accomplished in accordance with applicable federal, state, and municipal codes. Scope of activities includes mains, services, meter, and regulator installations for both system replacement projects and system reinforcement projects. Develop, as required, associated procedures for transmission and distribution projects, including construction sequences, upratings, purge plans, tie-ins, and pressure tests. Work with Operations to address maintenance issues requiring assistance of Engineering. Coordinate the activities of supporting engineers as assigned to projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and design facilities, with necessary costs estimates, in a timely manner for safe and cost effective maintenance of the area distribution system. Ensure system integrity is maintained utilizing network analysis. Develop plans for regional replacement programs.
• Prepare, evaluate and award bid packages. Monitor projects and perform problem solving as required to ensure effective cost control.
• Develop the annual Capital Construction Budget for area of responsibility, as well as implementation and substitution as required.
• Communicate and internally coordinate workload priorities, C&M installation concerns, project manpower requirements, materials procurement, permit application, etc. regarding the design and implementation of projects.
• Assist in the development of Engineering Personnel via training, education, and motivation of staff as well as providing Engineering support to respective Operational areas, as required. Manage personnel resources in sub region as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Comprehensive knowledge of all applicable Federal (DOT), State (PUC), and local codes and regulations
• Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong computer skills.
• Proficient drawing and drafting skills, particularly as related to natural gas construction
• Proficient skills in decision making and problem solving

Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline is required
• 8 years of General Construction Knowledge
• Valid driver’s license
