Job summary

Premier Resources Group (PRG) is seeking a Principal Project Controls Specialist – Scheduler to support multiple energy storage and solar construction projects in the Carolinas.

This senior role serves as an SME in field scheduling and Primavera P6, responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules while supporting project controls, forecasting, change management, and performance reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field; 9+ years of project controls experience.
  • Expert-level Primavera P6 scheduling experience and field scheduling on large construction projects.
  • Experience developing, baselining, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules.
  • Strong scheduling baselines, variance analysis, change management, and project controls methodologies.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to project sites in North and South Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Establish schedule baselines and integrate site activities with master schedules.
  • Maintain site integrated schedules across multiple projects.
  • Perform schedule variance, critical path, and trend analysis.
  • Incorporate vendor schedules and field updates into master schedules.
  • Conduct field observations to verify progress and update schedules.

Location: Charlotte, NC / Multiple Project Sites Across the Carolinas

Employment Type: Contract (Approximately 24 Months)

Work Arrangement: Hybrid with Regular Site Travel

Position Overview

We are seeking a Principal Project Controls Specialist – Scheduler to support multiple energy storage and solar construction projects. This senior-level role serves as a Subject Matter Expert in field scheduling and Primavera P6, responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules while supporting project controls, forecasting, change management, and performance reporting.

The ideal candidate will have extensive field scheduling experience on large construction projects and demonstrated expertise using Primavera P6 to manage complex project schedules from development through execution.

Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Project Controls
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze detailed project schedules using Primavera P6
  • Establish project schedule baselines and integrate implementation activities with other site work
  • Develop and maintain site integrated schedules across multiple construction projects
  • Perform schedule variance, adherence, critical path, and trend analysis
  • Incorporate vendor schedules, field updates, and implementation activities into master schedules
  • Conduct field observations to verify project progress and validate schedule updates
  • Track project resources, quantities, milestones, and overall schedule performance
  • Support recovery planning and schedule mitigation strategies when necessary
Change Management & Vendor Coordination
  • Review project change requests and evaluate schedule and time impacts
  • Evaluate vendor change orders and associated schedule impacts
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors to gather and validate schedule updates
  • Support project funding requests with detailed scheduling information
  • Identify schedule risks, constraints, and trends that may be impact project execution
Reporting & Communication
  • Develop project status reports, schedule analytics, forecasts, and performance summaries
  • Collect, validate, and analyze project controls data for management reporting
  • Prepare presentation-quality reports for project and leadership teams
  • Communicate schedule trends, variances, risks, and forecasts to key stakeholders
  • Support project controls standards, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, Finance, or related technical discipline
  • Minimum 9 years of project controls experience
  • 11+ years of relevant project controls experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Expert-level Primavera P6 experience
  • Significant field scheduling experience supporting large construction projects
  • Experience developing and maintaining integrated project schedules
  • Strong knowledge of schedule baselines, variance analysis, change management, and project controls methodologies
  • Ability to independently lead complex scheduling assignments
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout North and South Carolina
  • Valid driver's license and ability to use a personal vehicle for required site travel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting solar, battery energy storage, utility, power generation, or other large capital construction projects
  • Experience tracking project resources and quantities using Primavera P6
  • Experience evaluating vendor change orders and time impacts
  • Proficiency with Deltek Acumen or similar schedule analysis software
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and MS Project skills
  • PMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, AACE-PSP, AACE-CEP, AACE-EVP, or similar certification
  • Experience with Business Objects, Prolog, Passport, Powerplant, Maximo, EAM, PeopleSoft, or similar project controls systems
Candidate Must-Haves
  • 9+ years of project controls experience
  • Expert-level Primavera P6 scheduling capabilities
  • Proven field scheduling experience on large construction projects
  • Experience developing, baselining, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules
  • Experience working directly with contractors and vendors to validate schedule progress
  • Ability to perform regular field observations and travel to multiple project sites
  • Strong schedule analysis, change management, and project reporting capabilities
