Job description

Are you looking for an opportunity to have broad ownership and to work on a team focused on helping customers solve some of their biggest data challenges? Do you enjoy diving deep on customer use cases and working backwards from the customer to create new products, features, and services? Are you data-driven and are you excited by breaking down complex business and technical problems to find innovative solutions to help customers?

Amazon Keyspaces (for Apache Cassandra) is a scalable, serverless, highly available, and managed Apache Cassandra-compatible database service. Many of the world’s fastest growing businesses such as Monzo, Intuit, PwC, and Experian depend on the scale and performance of Keyspaces to support some of the world’s most demanding applications. We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to own end-to-end product management for Amazon Keyspaces, including strategy, and execution, working across engineering, Finance, and go-to-market to define where the service goes next. You will operate with significant autonomy, set direction on ambiguous and technically deep problems, and influence senior leaders across AWS.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and drive the multi-year product vision and roadmap for Amazon Keyspaces.
  • Partner with engineering and Solution Architect teams to translate deep technical capabilities into products customers love.
  • Work backwards from customer needs to make prioritization and investment decisions in a fast-moving, ambiguous space.
  • Represent the product to senior leadership, customers, and the broader developer community.
  • Use data and customer insight to define success metrics and hold the roadmap accountable to them.
Key job responsibilities

As a Principal Product Manager, you will own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a strategic area of Amazon Keyspaces, and you will be accountable for the outcomes it delivers. You will work backwards from customers to identify the highest-value problems to solve, then partner closely with engineering to bring solutions to market. You will make the hard prioritization calls in an ambiguous, fast-moving space, defend them with data and customer evidence, and communicate them clearly to senior leadership across AWS. You will also help raise the bar for product management on the team, mentoring other PMs and setting standards for how the org works backwards from customers.

  • Set and own the multi-year product vision, strategy, and roadmap for your area, and align stakeholders behind it.
  • Write the narratives - PRFAQs, strategy docs, and business cases - that drive decisions and secure investment.
  • Partner with engineering to define requirements and ship products that meet a high bar for customer experience.
  • Define the metrics that measure success, and use them to hold the roadmap accountable.
  • Influence senior leaders and partner teams across AWS to align on direction and resolve tradeoffs.
  • Engage directly with customers to ground the roadmap in real needs.
  • Mentor product managers and elevate the craft of product management across the team.
