Job summary

BlackLine is seeking a Principal, Product Manager to guide products from conception to launch, aligning business value with technical execution. You’ll partner with engineers, designers, and marketers to improve financial close processes and drive cross-functional outcomes across regions and segments.

You will own strategy, leverage AI-enabled workflows, and influence at the C-suite level, delivering measurable business results while navigating a fast-paced SaaS environment.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years in product management with major launches of scaled or 0-to-1 products.
  • Ownership of multi-year strategy and business outcomes for a product area.
  • Experience taking horizontal enterprise products to vertical/ regional markets preferred.
  • Proficiency in Agile and product tooling (Jira, Confluence, Pendo, Discovery).
  • Strong use of AI tools (Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT) to speed development.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; accounting/finance knowledge a plus.

You will work closely with creative and talented engineers, designers, and marketers to help develop solutions that improve companies' overall financial close process. As a Principal, Product Manager, you will work cross-functionally to guide products, from conception to launch, by connecting the business and technical worlds. What You’ll Bring:
  • 15+ years in product management, including major launches of highly scaled and/or 0-to-1 products.
  • Proven ownership of multi-year strategy and business outcomes for a major product area or portfolio.
  • Experience taking horizontal enterprise products into vertical, regional, or specialized markets is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and modern product development tooling like Jira, Jira Product Discovery, Confluence, Pendo or other product usage analytics tools, etc.
  • Strong proficiency using AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT to accelerate and enhance the product development lifecycle.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience; working knowledge of accounting or finance is an advantage.
Domain
  • Deep understanding of the financial close and record-to-report (R2R) landscape, and how industry, geography, and finance-specialization requirements (regulatory, statutory, tax, and accounting) shape product needs.
  • Familiarity with enterprise SaaS go-to-market, pricing, and packaging across segments and regions.
Working within an AI-native platform
  • Comfort building product within an AI-native, agentic platform.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted or automated workflows, confidence thresholds, human-in-the-loop review, and the ability to partner effectively with Data Science teams to build machine learning-based capabilities is strongly preferred.
Strategy & influence
  • Exceptional strategic and systems thinking; anticipates market shifts and emerging technologies, and uses data to challenge assumptions and drive direction.
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence at the C-suite and board level, driving decisions through compelling storytelling, data, and strong business cases.
  • Strong financial modeling and business-case development.
  • Makes high-impact decisions under uncertainty and drives momentum in ambiguous situations.

Salary Range:

Salary Range: $240,000.00-$301,000.00 Pay Transparency Statement: Placement within this range depends upon several factors, including the applicant's prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, BlackLine also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans. We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring candidates have clear information about compensation expectations. For roles that include variable incentive components such as an Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) or On-Target Earnings (OTE), the compensation structure may follow a split model – for example, a 50/50, 70/30, or 60/40 ratio between base salary and variable incentive.
